Return to the work
already running.

By default, reopening Acheron attaches to existing tmux sessions and leaves missing sessions stopped. This applies to local and SSH workspaces. Use Resume stopped to recover missing work while leaving healthy panes alone. Reconnect replaces attachments only. Claude and Codex recovery uses a verified conversation identity. If it is missing or unavailable, the pane stays stopped and Choose conversation… lets you select it explicitly. A newly started Charon session starts fresh.

Recover one pane

Each pane has its own reconnect button. Replace an unresponsive attachment without reconnecting the entire workspace. Output bursts are batched in order, and replaying saved output leaves keyboard and mouse input available.

Reconnect deliberately

After an SSH failure, automatic retries pause. Background checks skip hosts without a live pane connection. Reconnect when the host is ready; your host-specific SSH settings take precedence over Acheron’s defaults.

Permissions per session

New agent and Overseer sessions offer an explicit Bypass permissions option. It applies when that session launches or resumes; it does not change an already-running agent. For Codex, bypass also disables its sandbox.

Settings with a place for everything

Analysis, voice and notifications, sessions, mobile, and Overseer each have their own settings category. The save controls stay visible while you scroll. Mobile connection controls take effect immediately.

Leave a session.
Return to it.

On your Mac

Close the app.
Keep the session.

With tmux installed, quitting Acheron leaves your shells and agents running. Open it again to reconnect.

Local sessions end if the Mac restarts. A sleeping Mac pauses local work.

On another machine

Remote work has
its own home.

Connect over SSH and run sessions in tmux on the remote host. They can continue while your laptop is disconnected.

The remote machine needs to stay running.

On your phone

Check in,
where you are.

The iOS companion connects over SSH to show workspaces and open live terminals. Pair your device to access the same sessions.

A note on summaries

Summaries are optional. Choose a local model through Ollama or a hosted model through OpenRouter. With a hosted model, terminal output is sent to that provider for analysis.
